This online tool is used to calculate quantity of bricks and mortar required for wall construction. Mortar is mixture of sand and cement.

How to calculate quantity of bricks for wall ?

Q.Calculate material required for brickwall of size 10m × 10m×0.2m and brick size is 190mm×90mm×90mm for 1:6 cement sand ratio.

Ans: wall volume ,
         Wv=10×10×0.2=20 cu.meter

Brick volume,
Bv=0.19×0.09×0.09=0.001539 cu.meter

consider thickness of mortar on brick is 10mm
So brick size increase by 10mm ie.200mm×100mm×100m

Brick volume with mortar,
Bvm=0.2×0.1×0.1=0.002 cu.meter

Number of bricks with mortar,
N=Wv/Bvm
    =20/0.002=10000 nos

Quantity of mortar is,
Qm=Wv-(N×Bv)
       =20-(10000×0.001539)
        =4.61 cu.meter

4.61 cu.meter is a wet volume of mortar

Dry volume of mortar,
Dvm=4.61×1.33=6.13 cu.meter

Given cement sand ratio is 1:6,
Sum of ratio is 1+6=7

Quantity of cement,
=(cement part in ratio/sum of ratio)×Dvm
=(1/7)×6.13=0.8757 cu.meter

Multiply by cement density 1440 kg/cu.m for converting cu.meter to kg
=0.8757×1440=1261 kg

Quantity of sand,
=(sand part in ratio/sum of ratio)×Dvm
=(6/7)×6.13=5.25 cu.meter
